Production Manager - Plant Manager - Non-Automotive Job Opening in Romeo, Michigan - SENIOR PLANT PRODUCTION MANAGER
My client is the leading manufacturer of pond, lake and water garden products including aeration systems, fountains and water treatments. They sell to a loyal base of residential and commercial customers nationwide as well as through a distributor network. Their facility and setting is scenic and bustling with people who love coming to work each day surrounded by ponds filled with koi fish and trickling waterfalls. It?s beautiful. The culture is down to earth, dynamic, creative and collaborative.
This position plays a key role in the organization and works closely with the leadership team. You will oversee plant operations and manage about 35 team members including the production team, warehouse and shipping & receiving. About 80% of the role is managing production, private labeling, filter assembly, etc. The plant floor is about 45,000 s.f. and they are currently building a new warehouse facility for a total of about 90,000 s.f.

As the Plant Manager, you will:
Oversee all manufacturing including production and shipping and receiving with an emphasis on safety
Oversee a team of 35 including warehouse, shipping and receiving, and production personnel
Spend most of your time multi-tasking ? about half the time walking the floor and the other half working at your desk, on the phone, doing emails, etc.
Implement performance indicators to maximize efficiency, making sure that teams have a full understanding of goals/objectives and remain motivated
Ensure that all objectives are achieved with the highest quality standards
Set measures for improvement and assess results against set objectives
Determine financial impact and cost savings opportunities
Create and monitor bi-weekly production schedule
Ensure all EPA are performed on all EPA product runs
Work with Marketing, Purchasing, Customer Service, Engineering and Product Development to meet objectives
Oversee and perform some general building and equipment maintenance
Be willing to roll up your sleeves and be hands on when necessary
Have strong leadership skills with a collaborative mindset ? Be the example
Available to work between the hours of 7 a.m. ? 6 p.m. Monday through Friday
Desired skills and experience:
Strong, positive leadership skills
Experience in a non-automotive production environment
Production Management in food operations would be a good fit for this role
Knowledge of and experience in a manufacturing plant environment
Familiarity with safety, occupational hazards, OSHA, etc.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications and be technically savvy
Understand the principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
Experience with P&L
4 year college degree preferred
This is a full time position with a competitive salary range (likely in the 85K - 110K range - flexible based on experience) and excellent benefits including healthcare, 401K with 4% employer match and eligibility for year-end profit sharing (401K and profit sharing after 1,000 hours and one year of employment).
