Link Manufacturing, the worldwide leader in cab suspension solutions for heavy-duty truck industry, is hiring a National Sales Director with demonstrated experience and success to join our team. This position plays a fundamental role in achieving pull through sales and revenue growth objectives of the business. Reporting to the VP of Sales, this position will be part of the team responsible for driving revenue in the North American Commercial Vehicle marketspace, selling suspension systems to OEMs, fleets (via pull through), aftermarket OES dealers and independent distributor programs. The position demands professionalism from a candidate with intimate knowledge of the OEM sales processes, from prospecting through negotiation to order closure, and on into account and relationship management. The candidate will be comfortable and adept in working with senior level decision-makers as well as with end-users at job-sites. Listening and communication skills required to understand and qualify the clients? needs, and the ability to match these with Link?s value proposition, are critical. The candidate will be a highly reliable self-starter, at ease in a cooperative team environment, working closely with most other functional parts of the business. The position will be based near our Sioux Center, Iowa corporate headquarters. Above average North American travel is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs sales efforts to achieve objectives and financial goals established in the Company?s Strategic Business Plan.
Provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of the sales team, while maintaining focus on the company?s strategic goals.
Develops the tactical strategies to meet sales business plan, establishes goals, and implements the tactical sales strategies for the company.
Directs the company?s business development activities to cause dynamic growth of sales and profits.
Directs all sales efforts to OEM and Aftermarket channels globally in a manner that is professional, strategic, dynamic, and results in profitable growth in market share across all products and segments of our business.
Directs the administration of all pricing programs and policies within approved guidelines. Makes recommendations in instances requiring unique or special pricing and/or terms. Assures that policies, quotes, and special pricing scenarios are strategic and well documented.
Directs staff development and training opportunities that continuously grow the capabilities of our sales team. Good training programs will result in technically sound processes, an excellent talent pool for succession, creating effective training programs for our team of sales professionals, and an ability to be pro-active in reaching customers via marketing tools.
Establishes sales and gross profit performance goals for each field sales team member, and monitors performance on a continuous basis utilizing SMART goals to drive all business development and sales activities to attain/exceed monthly sales.
Participates directly in professional and industry organizations, in sales activities with key accounts, and in trade shows.
Assists the Vice President of Sales and Marketing by performing other duties as requested.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises the OEM Sales Managers, Field Sales Manager(s) and Fleet Sales team.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training and development of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; making salary recommendations; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Coordinates on-going training for the sales team inclusive of product knowledge, selling and collaborative negotiation skills.
Ensures consistent use of loading activity in CRM tools and ensures continuous improvement activities regarding key accounts.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
50% over-night travel estimated.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors of Science or advanced degree in business or related field
OEM and Dealer/Independent Distributor Sales experience of at least 10 years.
Sales management experience of at least 5 years.
Must have Commercial Vehicle Industry experience.
Global business experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to build strategic level relationships with customers.
Experience in developing and executing strategic business plans.
Experience in developing large new business opportunities.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong leadership skills with proven experience in developing a successful sales organization.
Selling skills to OEM?s and/or major accounts
Strong planning, organizational, motivational, interpersonal and analytical skills
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong computer skills
CRM experience required.
