Executive Director Job Opening in Wilmington, Delaware - Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Rick VanStory Resource Center?s staff, programs, and execution of its mission. Key duties include financial planning & viability, communications & advocacy, and administration & operations. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the organization, working with the Board of Directors as an ex-officio member, in a manner that fulfills the mission of the organization.
Serve as the organization?s primary spokesperson to promote community awareness of the agency?s work and garner opportunities.
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications (including press, website, and social media presence) with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
Create and implement fundraising strategies including securing grants, individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and other resources necessary to ensure the financial health of the organization. Diversify the organization?s funding stream through conventional and innovative means.
Implement sound fiscal management practices that operate within the approved budget, ensure maximum resource utilization, and maintain the organization in a positive financial position. Ensure that bookkeeping and accounting policies and practices are in compliance with state, federal and local laws and regulations.
Maintain fiscal integrity of the organization, including the submission of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements that accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization. Ensure strong financial oversight, including but not limited to transactions, allocations, payroll, monthly reconciliations and reporting, and timely acknowledgement of gifts.
Engage with policy makers at local, state, and national levels to influence systems of care and services that impact the populations served by the organization.
Develop operational plans, short and long-term, which incorporate measurable goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization to ensure sustainability and attainment of
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and retain competent, qualified staff and volunteers. Perform associated administrative and human resource functions.
Support the delivery of high-quality services while managing for current and future growth through assessments and evaluations.
Monitor organizational structure in the areas of facilities, grounds management (including mechanical, electrical, and fire safety), and information technology systems. Ensure compliance with state, federal and local regulatory requirements, safety and risk management guidelines and protocols, as well as environmental impact issues and make improvements as necessary.
Job Requirements:
Education : Master?s Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Organizational Leadership, Social/Human Services, Education, Counseling, or related field which has equipped applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Combination of Bachelor?s degree and experience will also be considered.
Experience : Candidate must have at least five years of management experience (project/program management, fiscal administration, and human resource management) in a nonprofit organization, foundation, or government agency and a track record of effectively leading performance- and outcomes-based programs. Facilities management experience preferred.

Conditions of Hire:
A satisfactory criminal background check and valid driver?s license and acceptable driving record are required at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule (including evening and weekends).
Must be available for out-of-state travel.
