Director of Sales Job Opening in East Lansing, Michigan - Position Description:
The Director of Sales reports to the Senior Director, Marketing and Public Relations of MSMS in all aspects of the position. Serving as both an advocate for the member physician, clients, the Michigan State Medical Society and its subsidiaries, the Director of Sales exists to generate annual budgeted revenue through internal and external sales; hire, train and provide supervision to full-time sales team for MSMS and its subsidiaries. The Director of Sales position requires enterprise to achieve growth in new and current markets and is responsible for meeting and holding staff accountable to sales action plans and performance goals. The Director of Sales provides innovative thinking, visionary leadership and a comprehensive strategic sales and marketing plan for continued significant growth of programs and revenue.
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Business, Marketing or similar field required. Ten (10) years sales experience required, experience with health care field a plus. This position travels on behalf of the Society and its subsidiaries, therefore a valid drivers? license is required.

Essential Job Functions:
Performs duties in an ethical and honest manner
Consistently meets or exceeds operational and revenue objectives.
Responsible for oversight of and providing strategic leadership to sales and sales team.
Manage overall sales process to achieve market penetration and market development for MSMS and its subsidiaries; develop sales programs that will generate profitable margins and meet performance targets within key market segments.
Provide timely and professional response to all sales leads and inquiries including returning clients, those from various referral sources.
Initiate and maintain contact with current and potential members and clients, maintain portfolio of accounts to achieve retention of business.
Document sales tracking, ROI, and projected internal allocation of revenue resulting from sales.
Produce contract sales status and conversion reports at least monthly.
Routinely assess staff via client meetings, one on ones, ride alongs, presentation skills, proposal development or pitch clinics. Gains agreement on developmental areas and executes plans for improvement as necessary.
Identifies, recommends and cultivates appropriate training to further develop and close skill gaps.
Maintain a close positive and professional relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
Establish and maintain lost and new business record keeping.
Make cold calls.
Ensure exceptional customer service during each step of interaction with clients and prospective clients with a goal of providing one-stop shop service.
On an annual basis create and implement a comprehensive sales strategy that will retain and maximize revenue.
Develop and deliver presentations to large and small audiences.
Hold staff accountable to performance and sales targets and high customer service standards.
Provide both positive and constructive feedback.
Address and manage conflict.
Ensure that all staff know and understand applicable policies and procedures as they relate to their role on the team.
Promote and support individual and team staff development.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate customer-oriented staff focusing on exceptional service.
Establishes aggressive yet realistic goals for staff.
Uses extensive knowledge of member and client base and related industries to help identify prospects, trends, and patterns.
Works with sales executives on pre-call planning and uncovering needs to earn appointments with decision makers.

Salary: $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
