Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Reports To: Site Supervisor
Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Location: Tanasbourne Clinic (Hillsboro, OR)
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for collecting and recording patient information by answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking insurance eligibility, and gathering demographic patient information. This position may be required to between reception and a phone cell.
Essential Job Duties
Greets patients and answers phones with friendly demeanor and professionalism.
Gathers visit reason, patient health history, financial and demographic information from patients and inputs accurately into EHR (EPIC).
Schedules appointments and maintains patient records.
Confirms patient?s insurance eligibility and coverage information.
Scrubs patient charts on a daily basis.
Scans & indexes documentation into medical records according to company procedures.
Receives and routes messages and documents to appropriate clinical staff.
Assists in new employee training on specific tasks, as needed.
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Staffs in the phone cell as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; at least one year experience in a fast-paced customer service setting, preferably in a healthcare. Previous EPIC or EHR experience is preferred. This position requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with a service oriented approach, sometimes in stressful circumstances.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing terms.
Ability to enter in data accurately with attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA policies.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to answer and utilize multiple line telephone.
Ability to learn and adapt to changing information and/or policies and procedures.
Must be able to display sensitivity to the population and patients served.
Must be able to demonstrate a record of reliable attendance and punctuality.
Intermediate or higher proficiency of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word)
Ability to proficiently use EPIC Electronic Health Record.
Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently use fingers to type and feel, will sit for long periods of time and will frequently be required to do filing; occasional bending, kneeling, or stooping may be required. Must be able to travel during the course of the workday and/or cover at other locations as needed up to 25% of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
