POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Controller for our Finance Department. In addition to having responsibility for the traditional controllership functions, this is an exciting opportunity for a data-driven finance professional to use his or her experience to foster a performance-based culture and develop international accounting policies and procedures for a rapidly-growing, international company. The Controller will lead and develop a team of 5 finance and accounting professionals located in the US and Canada.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Use in-depth knowledge of business process and accounting procedures, financial systems, business system requirements and technology solutions to recommend and implement improvements to an enterprise accounting system that will integrate with a proprietary technology platform
Provide subject matter expertise and project management for system integration selection and planning
Develop and maintain internal accounting control and reporting policies for a rapidly growing company with multiple entities and lines of business and, potentially, additional entities from organic growth or acquisitions
Manage all aspects of GAAP and tax accounting, reporting and financial compliance:
General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Compensation and Benefits, and the related management reporting:
Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting
Control and analysis of balance sheet and cash flows
Control and analysis of revenue and expenses
Key interface with independent certified public accountants, tax authorities, regulators, etc.
Prepare financial statements and reports, tools, and metrics for use by management and the Board of Directors
Actively serve senior management as a strategic financial advisor
Lead the planning functions: Forecast, Budget, Capital, Strategic Plan
Develop the financial elements of Annual Business Plans and Long Term Business Plans
Analyze and Report Actual performance in comparison with Budgets and Forecasts
Ensure the appropriateness of the finance and accounting elements of Splashlight?s contracts and legal agreements
Assist in planning and implementing the recruitment of Splashlight?s accounting and finance department
Develop and maintain the accounting and finance organization and staff needed to achieve the Company?s goals
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate is an accomplished, data-driven financial manager with a successful career progression in public accounting and corporate internal and external reporting and analysis. S/he will have proven ability to recruit, develop and manage a talented accounting team; implement accounting policy and procedures; select and implement internal control systems; partner with the executive team to assess business growth initiatives.
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA is strongly preferred. MBA a plus
7+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting with a minimum of 3 years in a hands-on controller or assistant controller role in a media production and/or or a organization.
Small or middle-market sized division or company experience is desirable
Knowledge of currency translation and consolidations in medium-complexity organizations
Experience as a Netsuite administrator and/or integrated ERP applications a plus
Knowledge and experience with media/content production or post-production services companies would be favorably considered
Skills in building and engaging international or remote teams
Demonstrable technology and systems planning experience
Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Experienced in financial analysis and projections
Superior interpersonal skills and management presence.
