Staff Accountant Job Opening in Watertown, New york - Staff Accountant & Real Estate Tenant Customer Service
Position Description
This is a position that provides accounting and customer service support of the real estate properties in a portfolio of companies affiliated with construction company. The position is responsible for the day to day accounting of real estate assets and customer service of tenants who occupy various properties. The position is responsible to maintaining accounting records for approximately six different real estate companies which include 30 individual tenants. The position also includes the customer service related to tenant relations and maintenance coordination.
This position will report to the VP Finance. The position will have primary day-to-day responsibility for maintaining accounting and financial records including bill payment, maintenance records, leases, insurances, and tenant customer service communication for various properties and well as provide support as needed to construction company.
Essential Functions
Communicates (both in verbal and written form) with tenants, suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, and banking contacts.
Receives and inputs accounts payable invoices.
Prepares cash account reconciliations, monthly financial statements and keeps track of assets. Reviews financials statements with management at least quarterly.
Commissions tenant service and maintenance requests.
Maintains subcontract agreements, insurance certificates with maintenance and service vendors.
Prepares appropriate schedules and reports as requested by clients and partners.
Receives tenant rental deposits and deposits into appropriate bank accounts.
Tracks financial investment accounts and posts broker statements.
Provides documentation for and assists accountants on tax return preparation.
Generates 1099's, W-2's and other tax compliance documents for individual property companies.
Files sales tax reports.
Support construction operations as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned from time to time by supervisor.
Prerequisites
AS in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting experience.
Prefer experience to include both public accounting and private industry.
Be conscientious about achieving deadlines and has an accurate work product.
Assume accountability for specific performance.
Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in concise and timely manner.
Detail oriented and very analytical
Strong organization skills
Strong computer skills in Accounting Software; Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel.
Basic knowledge of GAAP and accounting principals
Understand how to read and write financial statements
Prior experience in Business Management preferred.
May be required to be or become a Notary Public.
