RN - Registered Nurse Job Opening in Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Responsibilities and Duties
Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of nursing process.
Obtains report from nurse being relieved and records sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary relating to the residents? treatment needs.
Verify narcotic/controlled medication count with off-going nurse.
Gives daily report/ instruction and completes assignment sheet for nursing assistants.
Provides report to nurse coming on duty, including sufficient information for follow-up action as necessary.
Monitor dining rooms during meal times to ensure residents are receiving proper diet and assistance as necessary.
Performs and documents comprehensive assessments of residents assigned.
Administers and documents direct resident care, medications and treatments per physicians? orders and accurately record all care provided.
Performs and documents admission/transfer and discharge of residents as necessary and as assigned.
Observes the resident for changes in condition and reports these changes and the resident?s needs to the attending physician, resident?s family and supervisory nursing staff as indicated.
Obtains physicians? orders and any revisions for treatments as necessary.
Provides education to residents and their families on disease process, medication, diet, safety and other medical issues as deemed appropriate by the physician.
Identifies special nursing problems and emergency situations quickly and initiates immediate ?life-saving? measures in the absence of a physician.
Listens to resident, family or physician complaints and initiate corrective action and report special problems to the Unit Manager or Shift Supervisor.
Provides and maintains a safe environment for residents.
Assesses resident needs by:
Initiating development of individualized care plans
Reviewing and updating resident care plans as necessary
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings as required
Maintains resident rights by:
Supervising and evaluating the implementation of Resident Rights
Following Resident?s Rights policies at all times
Maintains resident confidentiality.
Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves and proper disposal of soiled materials.
Uses and supervises the use of supplies and equipment efficiently and in a cost effective- manner.
Supervises LPNs and CNAs, delegates responsibilities as necessary, counsels and recommends disciplinary action to Unit Manager.
Instructs nursing assistants in proper, preventative safety measures and use of adaptive equipment to meet residents? needs.
Assists with training new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development and maintains and upgrades professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance and participation in continuing education and in-service classes.
Is self- directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
Is dependable, organized, flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation.
Maintains a professional appearance, is reliable, punctual and demonstrates a cooperative manner towards resident/family and all members of the healthcare team.
