Infectious Disease Physician Job Opening in Saint Petersburg, Florida - Great opportunity to join a well established ID/IM group, with over twenty years in practice. We are the premier provider of infectious disease consultations at two of the major hospitals in the city, as well as being the largest private provider of HIV care in the area. This is a perfect opportunity for a new graduate (IM/DO) or experienced Infectious Disease physician who believes in practicing quality medical care and developing good relationships with patients and families in a traditional private practice. Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily office hours with hospital rounding, as scheduled for hospital consultations
Follow standard of care guidelines when providing medical care to patients with infectious and communicable diseases, diagnosing, treating and prescribing therapies
Develop a panel of new patients by providing high quality medical care, including patients with HIV and infectious hepatitis
Maintain accurate medical records using a qualified EMR system both in the office and hospitals
Review diagnostic test results and correspondence, using an EMR, on a timely manner and provide prompt answers to clinical staff with necessary recommendations, referrals or prescriptions.
Provide on-call after hours phone coverage and hospital rounding, every third weekend
Maintain all required State and National licenses and certifications as required by the Board of Medicine and certifying authorities
Develop professional relationships with other physicians in the community to maintain out-patient and in-patient ID consultations
Initiate referrals to community organizations and consultations with other health care providers as appropriate for patients continued care needs
Qualifications and Skills
Board Certified (eligible) in Infectious Disease
Current, valid and unrestricted Medical and DEA license in the state of Florida or meets criteria for licensure
Free of Board sanctions or actions in the past 10 years
Experience in HIV care a plus
Excellent communication and teaching skills
Excellent bedside manner
Superb sense of humor and understanding of the changing healthcare atmosphere
