Software Developer - Manufacturing Job Opening in Issaquah, Washington - Most are unaware that Costco Wholesale has multiple facilities that manufacture product. We do and this is an exciting area of growth within the company. The IT Manufacturing area supports these facilities and works to streamline and modernize their business. We?re looking for the right people to help us grow and take on more responsibility within the organization. Applicants with the right coding skill-set and a great attitude can be successful and we are willing to train on any technologies needed.
The IT Manufacturing Team is looking for developers to build and support our Siemens Simatic IT solution and other platforms we may implement for our manufacturing facilities in the future. This includes MES (Simatic IT currently), LIMS, CMMS, and (future SAP). The Software Developer will understand business challenges and translate them into functional and technical solutions. They will partner with Business Analysts to understand requirements and functional designs, develop technical designs, and code and test software solutions. They participate in both support and project activities targeted at the support, enhancement, and modernization of the Costco Manufacturing systems. This will include ISA S95 Level 2 and Level 3 customization request reviews, code change governance, and technical guidance to all Costco manufacturing facilities.
Tasks and responsibilities
Ensures that proposed and existing system solution designs are aligned with standards, goals and objectives.
Leads the designs, developments, implementations, and ongoing improvements of the overall technical solution required to implement the Manufacturing applications (ISA S95 Level 2 and Level 3).
Writes clear, maintainable, modular, and testable code.
Leads problem analysis and solutioning for the technical team.
Leads/conducts design and code-reviews for team members.
Consults with Business and Functional Analysts as well as the business to refine and identify technical solutions.
Point of collaboration with other areas, especially in the areas of system performance, database administration, configuration, testing / QA and technical support.
Leads the technical aspect of deployment planning and partners with others as necessary for the deployment of the solution to production.
Involved in solution support and ongoing enhancement design and development.
Mentors and develops technical resources.
Be an advocate for quality first in the software development process.
Partners with members of autonomous, cross-functional teams to deliver business value over sprints.
Takes operational responsibility for solutions delivered by your team, including taking part in an on-call rotation.
Works in an environment that supports your individual growth via exposure to new systems, complex problems and access to training.
Assists in other areas of the department and company as necessary.
Required skills, abilities, and certifications
Coding: C# , Web protocols (SOAP, JSON) and Web architectures (REST).
Front end development: ASP , HTML5, JavaScript, AngularJS, JQuery.
Database & BI: SQL, SSRS or similar BI platform.
Development tools: MS Visual Studio, Git or similar source control repository, issue tracking.
Minimum 3 years of experience in design of an overall system solution, leading design and development efforts for a system with multiple large components.
Minimum 3 years experience in developing systems using object-oriented programming.
Proven ability to lead and mentor technical resources in the delivery of a large software solution.
Proven ability to be the primary point of authority among many teams for design, development, and delivery.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) & collaboration skills.
Able to work effectively and produce consistent results with a minimum of supervision.
Demonstrates a positive attitude, is self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail oriented.
Highly motivated self-starter, problem solver, and execution-oriented team player.
Willing to work nights and weekends, perform on-call support as scheduled & travel up to 20-25% of the time.
Recommended skills, abilities, and certifications
3-5 years of prior implementation & support experience with Manufacturing applications in one or more of the following areas MRP, MES, EAM/CMMS, LIMS.
Driving to continuous improvement utilizing lean or six-sigma tools is a plus.
A solid business understanding of Manufacturing concepts, activities and typical plant processes.
Working experience in Process Manufacturing - Food industry & Simatic IT.
Good understanding of supporting information technologies such as SQL Server, conveyor/sortation control systems, PLCs, bar coding and production scheduling is a plus.
General understanding of ISA standards S95 & S88.
4 year undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, similar quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience.
Understanding of project management best practices.
Grasp of Cloud Connectivity and IoT concepts.
