Accounting Specialist Job Opening in Pelham, Alabama - Job Summary
Our accounting department is growing and we are looking for an experienced, energetic and passionate individual to join the team. Our accounting department is high-volume and fast-paced. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing regulatory filings and other reconciliations.
Essential Job Duties
Analyzes and prepares tax reports
Handles regulatory filings for sales/use tax, license renewal, corporate filings, etc.
Perform reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy
Research and resolve issues affecting various accounts
Maintains detailed records and documentation
Provides clerical and administrative support to accounting staff as requested
Assist with monthly closing or other duties assigned by management
Additional Duties
Reconciling cash accounts to perfection
Resolving all issues related to reconciling items with a sense of urgency
Working with other areas of the business to improve cash transactions
Required education:
Associate's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years experience as Bookkeeper or Accounting Specialist
High School Diploma or equivalent with 6-10+ years of experience as Bookkeeper or Accounting Specialist
Required experience:
3+ years as Bookkeeper or Accounting Specialist
Experience in sales tax and regulatory filings, bank reconciliations and account reconciliations REQUIRED
Experience working with ERP Systems is preferred
Experience in retail or sales distribution industry preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Intermediate Excel skills REQUIRED; advanced skills preferred
Good verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented and ability to work under deadlines
Good math and excellent problem-solving skills
Understanding of accounting principles
ERP experience preferred
Compensation
$17.50/hr
Benefits eligible position including vacation, personal/sick time, 401k
Expected Hours of Work
Core hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime is expected in this position, as needed.
