Creative assistant needed for outgoing writer

los angeles, California

Creative assistant needed for outgoing writer Job Opening in los angeles, California - Creative assistant needed for outgoing writer Hey, I'm Eva; Im 28 years old and live in the Pasadena area. I graduated from Occidental College and I am a freelance writer. I have cerebral palsy and I am looking for a part time assistant to help me in my life. I use a wheelchair to get around and communicate what I want to say by spelling it out on a letter board. This might seem daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes really easy. The job will be two evenings a week (the nights are not set yet) from 6-10pm. And every Saturday from 12-5pm, so a total of three shifts per week. The pay rate is $12 per hour cash. No previous experience with disability is required because I will train you, and all people/all genders are welcome to apply. Don't be intimidated by the disability aspect because this is not a medical job, I promise, and it won't take too long to train you. This is not so much a caretaking job as a hang out and help me kind of job. So although we will have lots of fun, I do expect a certain level of professionalism. Also, we have to have some sort of interesting connection otherwise well both be bored and Im not cool with that. I don't mean that we have to have lots of common interests or anything but our chemistry should be good since we will be spending so much one-on-one time together. As my assistant, you will help me in daily life activities. My major projects is applying for a service dog and I am making a documentary about the relationship between people with disabilities and their aides. But in the evenings I need assistance with emails, going out with friends, and random life tasks. I have a sweet dog named Bailey, who is a little shy so you must be comfortable around him. I have a pretty well known blog called The Deal with Disability () and I write for a magazine on the side. I'm a pretty active person and I like to go out and have coffee and lunch with friends. I am part of the GLBTQ community so you will have to be comfortable with me being a lesbian. The requirements for the job are the following: The strength to do regular lifting (to lift me, but I'm pretty small -80lbs- and can help). A California Drivers License and decent record (youll be driving my van). An outgoing personality and a good sense of humor. People often act in very inappropriate ways around me (like patting my head) so you'll have to get used to explaining (in a nice way and with humor) why they should not do that. Also for people I do want to talk to, you will help me engage them. I am a very social person but people often don't know how to approach me so I need an assistant who is very comfortable in social situations and explaining how I communicate. A very reliable work ethic. This is a job for someone who can be genuinely excited and engaged in whatever daily experiences we have- from just hanging out and chilling, to daily errands, to helping me film and blog about it, to having coffee with friends, to dealing with crazy puppy antics. If you are bored and are "just doing your job" it won't be fun for either of us. If you are interested, email me at and tell me about yourself and please include a resume. Thanks! los angeles ca california
