Staff Accountant - Accounts Receivable Job Opening in Norwalk, Connecticut - Position Overview
The Staff Accountant - Accounts Receivable reports to the VP, Finance and is responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Receivable function and related GL activities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the Accounts Receivable function, including generating timely and accurate monthly customer invoices and managing customer collections in accordance with company policies.
Ensure Billing and Accounting systems are aligned, that all transactions are properly coded with appropriate General Ledger account numbers and that revenue recognition is appropriate and in accordance with company policies.
Process and report monthly Sales and Use tax filings.
Maintain AR inbox to ensure all customer inquiries are responded to via email/phone within 24 hours and coordinate with Sales, Operations and Legal to drive resolution.
Maintain accurate records and up-to-date master customer files.
Manage timely, complete, and accurate monthly close activities, including revenue, AR and cash account reconciliations.
Respond in a timely and thorough manner to internal requests for information.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures relating to financial controls and accounting practices.
Prepare special reports as needed for business analysis.
Assist and provide needed schedules for audit and tax preparation.
Identify and implement necessary process improvements to streamline workflows and create efficiencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience.
Proficiency in MS Office ? Word, Excel and Outlook.
