Senior Accountant Job Opening in Beverly, Massachusetts - POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will work as part of the General Ledger team to support the organization?s business objectives by analyzing general ledger accounts and preparing standard journal entries; and by preparing monthly financial statements and schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze and reconcile asset and liability accounts on a monthly basis
Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice
Prepare standard journal entries
Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Ensure company adheres to SOX rules
Support month-end and year-end close processes
Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Participate in decision-making sessions with operating managers who have policy-making authority for their business unit
Recommend management actions or alternatives that can be taken when accounting data disclose unfavorable trends, situations, or deviations
Assist in streamlining account processes across all business units
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Prepare special financial reports as required by management by collecting and analyzing account information
Maintain high-level job expertise by attending seminars, participating in professional societies, and reading pertinent publications
Implement best practices and identify opportunities for automation
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial
Complete specials projects as needed
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting preferred
CPA preferred
4-7 years? experience, GAAP, Public Accounting Experience a plus
Proven Senior Accounting experience
Strong ability to interface with all levels of the organization in a team-based environment
Excellent verbal and written communications skills is a must
Creative, outgoing, energetic person with a demonstrable track record of exceeding goals
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Solid analytical and problem solving skills
Proven knowledge of MS Office products; PeopleSoft experience a plus
