Quality Manager Job Opening in Hockessin, Delaware - General Responsibilities :
The Quality Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and activities designed to enhance the quality of resident care, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
Essential Duties:
Utilizes both direct and indirect observational methods to detect areas of opportunity and to ensure compliance with QAPI.
Co-Chairs the QAPI committee with the Administrator (NHA).
Monitors and records QAPI projects and PIPs throughout the month and accept forms/audits from all departments for submission to the QAPI committee.
Collaborates with Administrator to ensure punctual and accurate data submission to the QAPI committee.
Maintains and monitors QAPI meeting minutes and follows up as needed.
Completes validation audits of data submitted to the QAPI committee.
Be cognizant of Federal and State initiative for Quality Improvement, Performance improvement.
Attends and/or participates in educational programs to ensure knowledge base is consistent with current trends in QAPI.
Establishes and maintains tracking systems for QAPI recommendations and studies.
Utilizes problem-solving method of stating the problem, performing root cause analysis, and identifying strategic step for solutions.
Reviews departmental trends and facilitates improvement of processes through Process Improvement activities.
Train staff in expectations regarding their participation in QAPI.
Submit required forms, reports, and other documentation to administration as directed
Serve as a professional role model, providing leadership in all activities.
Establish and maintain effect channels of communications within the organization.
Assist in developing follow-up procedures for monitoring identified concerns.
Assist in developing and revising procedures as required.
Review the facility?s quality indicator reports, quality measures, and survey reports to assist in identifying potential areas of concern.
Participates in facility surveys and plan of corrections as directed
Performs other duties as assigned
Other:
Adheres to all universal precautions and prescribed safety and infection control procedures at all times. Washes hands thoroughly, uses disposable gloves where indicated and properly disposes of soiled materials.
Safeguards all resident information and adheres to all HIPPA regulations.

The incumbent must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the equipment and machines used in the performance of this job, including:
Computers ? including both stationary and laptop ? and software including, but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel programs.

Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: Minimum five years in a healthcare setting; long-term care preferred. Knowledge of utilization review, quality surveillance required. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others. Must possess ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members and visitors. Registered Nurse credential preferred.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; thorough knowledge of current federal and state regulations; knowledge of drug interactions, side effects, and incompatibilities; decision-making skill; delegating skill; proficient assessment skills; demonstrated management and supervisory skills; auditory and visual skills; ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years equivalent experience in a long-term care setting.
