Healthcare Supervisor 1st and 2nd Shift Job Opening in Wyoming, Michigan - This is a working supervisor role that ensures the shift runs smoothly and ensures all staff assignments are completed as assigned.
Primary Role: To ensure Community Members are treated with respect and dignity, and receive quality care according to in individual plans of care. To promote Community Member independence and choices. To insure are safely and accurately administered to Community Members.
Job Expectations:
Lead by Example and maintain ethical standards. Maintain professional conduct.
Administer prescribed medications as ordered. Document medication administration on MARS.
Ensure physician orders and treatment plans are being carried out as prescribed.
Track/follow-up on lab and x-ray reports and communicate with physicians as needed.
May conduct professional building tours for placement of potential Community Members.
Responsible for review of medication records on a daily basis. Check medication administration record (MAR), for accuracy. Ensure exchange of appropriate information with pharmacist concerning any orders for mediation change and identified errors.
Check incoming MARS (medication and treatments), against physician orders for accuracy.
Monitor overall quality / cleanliness of physical plant during daily rounds, including neatness of individual rooms and absence or presence of odors; ensure beds are made daily and changed when necessary. Report improperly functioning facility features to maintenance staff.
Check incoming medication container labels against physician orders to ensure medication is for the correct Community Member. Check to ensure medication container received from the pharmacy is labeled with the cored drug, correct dosage, the correct route, and the correct frequency of administration.
Supervise CCG ( Community Care Giver) and CCS (Community Care Specialist)
Responsible for making daily Community Member information to Administrator/DOCC and Community Care Staff.
Implement/ maintain Community Members schedules (bathing, feeding, toileting, etc.)
Communicate pertinent Community Member information with families, physicians, and staff as needed
Make rounds with physicians and communicate with families, physicians and clinical staff as needed.
Ensure use and update of Community Member care plans by clinical staff.
Mat assist in audit of clinical records
May assist DOCC?s with interviewing staff, hiring process and performance appraisals.
Assist in orientation of staff to job responsibilities.
May supervise or provide input to the staff scheduling process.
Responsible for coordination ordering and re-ordering of medical/nursing supplies as assigned.
Serves as backup to Community Care Specialist for medication administration
Posses awareness of nursing budget and assists ADOCC and DOCC (Assistant Director of Community Care and Director of Community Care) to not exceed projected financial targets. Record charges for billing of ancillary service/products.
Aware of corporate performance improvement plan and quality initiatives being measured at facility
Participate in data collection and performance improvement reporting processes.
Participate in and attends continuing education activities. Comply with AFC (Adult Foster Care) staff education requirements.
May conduct medication administration audits to identify opportunities for improvement. Use standardized audit tool to conduct MARS audits. Provide feedback concerning audit to Director of Community Care or Regional Director of Community Care.
Participate in the delivery of Community Member care, when indicated. May assist Community Members with bathing, range of motion, feeing, dressing and other activities of daily living.
May assist with performance of Community Member admission assessments.
Participate in regular fire drills, elopement drills, etc, according to policy and procedure. Provide feedback to DOCC or RDOCC.
Ensure safe environment for Community Members family members, visitors, co-workers, etc.
Ensure confidentiality of Community Member health information in accordance to HIPPA
Complete other tasks, duties as assigned.
Required Tasks:
Technical: First Aid, Current CPR certification, adherence to Universal Precautions, ongoing In Service and training.
Equipment Operations: Office equipment various medical equipment such as blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, diabetic equipment, needles, syringes, pulse, O2, Hoyer and any other specialized medical equipment as needed to provide Community Member care.
Mental Effort/Skills: Written and oral communication skills. This position requires multiple task orientation.
Work Condition: Inside and outside environmental
Key Physical Tasks: Must be able to participate in one and two person transfers/lifts and change Community Member position to accommodate their mobility needs. Potential exposure to blood ? borne pathogens and bodily fluids. Must be able to push med cart and perform medical treatments as ordered by a physician.
Education
Formal Education/training: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse?s Aide (CNA) preferred.
Industry-Specific Knowledge: Knowledge of care related to geriatric population. Under the DOCC and RDOCC, must be trained in proper handling and administration of medication primarily through the job training. Knowledge of State and Federal Foster Care (AFC), rules and regulations.
Company safety, and various emergency situations: Company policies and procedures concerning Community Care Member care, resident rights, reporting requirements, general safety, and various emergency situations.
