EMS Instructor Coordinator Job Opening in Lansing, Michigan - ORGANIZATION This position exists within the Emergency Response Training Center, with primary reporting responsibilities to the Course Coordinator and Education Director of the Training Center. This position has contact with other employees at the the Emergency Response Training Center, the Program Medical Director, interfacing hospitals, and other area Emergency Medical Service providers and personnel.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduate
Current State of Michigan EMS Provider Licensure (MDCIS) at the Paramedic level
Current State of Michigan EMS Licensure (MDCIS), preferably at the Paramedic Level
Current BLS Provider through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Current BLS Instructor through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Minimum five (5) years active, FT field experience at the EMT-Basic level
Minimum five (5) years active, FT field experience at the AEMT or EMT-Paramedic level or above, preferred
Previous course coordination and instructional experience preferred
Previous general administrative experience preferred
Associate?s Degree with emphasis in Healthcare or EMS-related field preferred
Bachelor?s Degree or higher in Healthcare, Fire & EMS-related field preferred
Michigan FFTC Certification Fire I & II Preferred
Michigan FFTC HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations Certification preferred
PALS, ACLS, PHTLS or ITLS Provider preferred
HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS
Must have ability to plan, coordinate and teach training programs within the scope of the contracted courses.
Must have the ability to maintain effective interpersonal communications with EMS staff, volunteers, governmental agencies, medical staff, and other health care/emergency service providers.
Must have high level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
Collaborates with other health care professionals in the care of patients.
Respects the needs and rights of co-workers, students, patients, and the public.
Assists in promoting and maintaining positive relationships within the EMS field.
PROBLEM SOLVING AND INITIATIVE
Ability to instruct well to all types of students and to deal with problems that can be presented in the training setting.
Ability to work with direct to accomplish desired objectives.
Ability to gather information or research problems/concerns and present facts for action by others within reporting responsibility.
Individual must have the ability to exercise good judgment in decisions and be able to work with minimal to accomplish desired objectives.
Must exhibit high degree of self-motivation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work can be demanding. This position requires a flexible working schedule with evenings and occasional weekend responsibilities.
Travel by personal auto to and from the courses will be required.

Be present at all classes for the education program that are agreed upon to teach. Notify the Program Sponsor in advance of absences.
Adhere to all Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services requirements for an approved program.
Help ensure that all students are provided with the Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services course objectives prior to the start of the first class session.
Ensure that all students are provided with a course syllabus at or prior to start of the first class session and go over the information with students as questions arise.
Submit all request for any needed Instructor expenses forms to the Course Coordinator for purchase.
Facilitate tests and quizzes to utilize to generate written quizzes, module tests and mid-term exams to students in respective classes agreed to teach in.
Administer approved final written and practical exams to students in classes agreed to teach in.
Keep the Course Coordinator informed as to the status of the course and provide any feedback and documentation as requested by the Course Coordinator.
Inform the Course Coordinator of any student who fails the course and provide written documentation as to why the student failed.
