Rates Analyst I Job Opening in Overland Park, Kansas - Kansas Gas Service , a division of ONE Gas, Inc., was established in 1997, and has a 100-year tradition of providing utility service to customers. As the largest natural gas distribution company in Kansas, we provide safe, reliable natural gas to more than 630,000 customers.
We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Rates Analyst I in Overland Park, Kansas with strong interpersonal skills to analyze and prepare studies and reports related to finance, accounting, taxation and/or economics for Kansas Gas Service.
A Day In The Life
Analyzing and/or prepare information for reports, exhibits, and recommendations related to rate cases, legislative pronouncements, regulatory tariffs and orders, finance, accounting, taxation, and/or billing related issues.
Performing calculations and/or analysis for cost of service studies, financial forecasts and ratios, rate/tariff schedules and regulatory compliance.
Assisting in development of applicable computer programs used in rates, finance, customer billing, and various accounting activities.
Compiling, verifying, and/or preparing financial information including; proof of revenue studies, reports, gas costs, peer company rate comparisons, tariff applications within the billing process
and special projects.
Compiling information for governmental and/or regulatory agencies, management, project teams, customers, and others relative to regulatory reporting, accounting processes, and various financial reports
Expectations
Experience with rate-making processes (preferred).
General accounting and finance knowledge.
Strong analytical, critical and economical thinking and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated experience in analyzing, evaluating and preparing reports, invoices, studies and correspondence.
Strong communication skills in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to present in front of groups.
Ability to multi-task, grasp complex issues, as well as pay strict attention to details.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including MS Excel.
Bachelor's Degree Preferably in Accounting, Finance or business related degree
