Senior Accountant Job Opening in Oakland, California - We?re growing and looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team during this exciting time at Pet Food Express! The Senior Accountant will support Accounting by performing day to day accounting tasks, account analysis, and month end closing activities, with the goal of producing accurate financial statements, while adhering to appropriate internal controls and deadlines. This includes, but is not limited to, importing and exporting data, analyzing and explaining variances from expectations, reconciling associated general ledger accounts, and providing management with timely financial reporting information. The ideal candidate works independently to perform a variety of tasks requiring detailed knowledge in accounting and can combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
What you'll do:
Complete month-end close assigned, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations and analysis for complex accounts
Assist with analyzing balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis and report on variances
Reconciling asset and liability account balances, maintaining general ledger and executing assigned month-end close procedures
Assist with review of calculation and analysis of prepaid and accrued expenses
Review accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and correct entries
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
Other projects as assigned
