The Sr. Manager, Settlement Systems Operation is responsible for leading a team of associates, direct and indirect, who have ownership for processing, reconciling and accounting for one of BHN?s entities. The team of associates ensures data integrity between internal and external partners/systems. The goal of this position is to not only guide day to day activities but also streamline existing processes and create efficiencies moving forward. The Sr. Manager will use his/her deep understanding of reconciliation and financial services processes and systems to drive integration of new programs and products. Driving vision and action items for any improvements, as well as the revamp of the existing processing platform will be key deliverables for this position. Ability to think critically and work cross functionally to develop and execute creative solutions while keeping stakeholders organized and management informed is critical.
Responsibilities
Manage and lead a team of associates responsible for performing material, complex system reconciliation activities with high transactional volume primarily in the financial services and gift card spaces
Leverage a solid understanding of settlement processes and systems to provide guidance and direction to Project Manager for new deals and initiatives
Ensure alignment with settlement requirements and end solutions
Have ownership for successfully implementing all related financial controls, operational business processes, and system solutions
Serve as a key stakeholder, business owner, and subject matter expert for all enhancements impacting BHN?s processing platform; partner closely with Engineering throughout development, testing, and implementation phases
Determine SOX implications of new business initiatives, modify/implement controls as appropriate, and conduct accounting and system process reviews with internal and external auditors
Oversee reconciliations and reporting process to ensure the integrity of accounts and partnering with Accounting and Treasury to execute critical controls and ensure organization?s financial integrity.
Oversee and Drive for period end reporting process including accruals and preparing schedules as required to support accurate reporting of financial results
Facilitate and create variance analysis and other ad hoc financial and management reporting as need
Drive departmental goals and service levels, cross training, and providing additional coverage as necessary
Qualifications:
8+ years in accounting, finance, or settlement operations in an operations systems or reporting role
5+ years management experience; able to prioritize team members? work to meet deadlines
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience
In depth understanding of how reconciliation works and related best practices in order to advise improvements to the existing processes
Highly proficient in Excel
Ability to create and/or design reports within a business system
Understanding of project lifecycles and an ability to drive projects to completion end-to-end
Experience working on or with Visa, MasterCard, American Express or similar payment system is highly preferred
Understanding of the entire card transaction lifecycle, including authorization, capture, clearing, settlement, funding, and chargebacks is highly preferred
Working knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, data warehouse and business intelligence tools is preferred
Self-starter with great attention to detail and follow through and who is resourceful and adept at managing through chaos to reach a goal
Enjoys a fast-paced learning environment and has an ability to understand processes end to end
Strong leadership ability and communication skills, including the ability to work cohesively and diplomatically with team members at differing levels of skill and experience; be able to translate business needs into technical requirements
