Accounting Manager Job Opening in Menlo Park, California - ACCOUNTING MANAGER
We are looking for a professional, hands-on, detail oriented, and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and to provide support to our Executive Management team.
The Accounting Manager will lead a team of 6 to ensure the work is effectively allocated, talents are maximized while maintaining quality and accuracy. He/She must meet tight deadlines and execute a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial transactions and reporting, year-end review audit preparation, budget activities support, and provide cost studies. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for handling sales tax audits for the company. Best practices and compliant accounting principles and practices must always be utilized by the Accounting Managers.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for financial reporting and accounting structure and process; maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure using up-to-date compliance methods.
Ensures the timely reporting of all period financial information.
Maintains the general ledger and sets up GL accounts to ensure they are properly reflected for reporting purposes.
Provides cost studies/analysis to the management team, when required.
Ensures an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
Supports budget activities including revenue forecasting.
Manages property tax and business licenses preparations and completions.
Prepares all sales taxes, ensure all sales tax rules and regulations are followed in all states (Nexus presence), handle audit from various states, and update when required.
Responsible for cash management reporting.
Prepares and post journal entries.
Completes bank reconciliation.
Manages the 1099 reporting process during year end to ensure accuracy and timely filing.
Provides quarterly audit products revenue reporting.
Team Members and Department Management:
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources to maintain high level of accuracy.
Supports staff in problem solving and meeting deadlines.
Responds to the Executive Management team and department heads regarding special reporting requests and financial results support.
Provides training to new and existing team members, as needed.
Works with each direct report to to provide ongoing feedback, annual reviews; establishes goals and objectives each year and mentors / monitors progress to develop and engage team staff along with providing yearly annual job reviews.
Supervises AR to ensure billing is accurate and done on a timely basis, resolves invoice discrepancies, corresponds and resolves issues with customers.
Supervises AP to ensure accuracy and controls weekly cash disbursement process; reviews AP invoices for accuracy and resolves invoice discrepancies and monitors accounts to ensure all payments are up to date.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business/accounting, with 8+ years combined in accounting and accounting manager experience.
Cost accounting experience required.
Strong business acumen required.
Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, a plus.
Strong computer skills and excellent communication skills verbal and written.
Ability to manage multiple competing tasks and meet established deadlines.
