Jan-San/CI Sales Manager Job Opening in Newport News, Virginia - Job Summary:
The Sales Manager is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in the janitorial, sanitation, concrete supply, and specialty tool markets. This position directs sales representative organizations and establishes plans to expand customer base and increase sales.
Responsibilities:
Prospects and appoints distributors located in open territories using the distributor program.
Acquiring and updating knowledge of employers? and competitors? goods and services, and market conditions.
Provides product knowledge and sales training to new and existing distributor sales representatives. Makes customer and dealer sales calls with sales representatives when applicable.
Participates in sales meetings, trade shows and other sales functions as assigned. Implements approved sales and marketing programs to promote SOLO products to distributor and dealers.
Assists in the development of sales plan for the assigned market to obtain company sales goals and profitability.
Submits a monthly travel expense plan. Include purpose and expected outcome.
Submits call report for all calls/sales meetings. Provide monthly sales report reviewing sales month-to-date and year-to-date, existing distributor activity and new distributor prospects.
Recommends replacement of non-performing distributors.
Makes recommendations for new products and report general industry trends as necessary and when applicable.
Supervise in-house CI Sales Representative.
Proven ability to organize, plan and communicate sales activities verbally and in writing in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to sell.
General knowledge of industrial, concrete supply, construction, and sales.
Strong public speaking skills ? ability to present and sell to large groups.
Mathematical ability to use percentages, ratios, averages and medians to calculate and interpret data.
Ability to manage and process data for use by self or others using the Microsoft Office suite of tools. Must be proficient with excel, power point and word.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Ability to plan and schedule events over the course of several months. Regular review and coordination of activities, which are required for implementation.
Ability to perform under broad guidance and review by management. Precedents, professional standards and general company practices are utilized.
Ability to work well with others.
Education & Experience: Bachelor?s Degree and 3-5 years sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory Responsibility: Provides sales guidance, technical assistance, or on-the-job training to other individuals in the work group, including in-house Sales Representative and assigned Sales Rep Organizations.
Physical Requirements:
This individual must be able read reports and use a computer.
Must be able to communicate with others by means of spoken words. Major portions of the work day require these activities.
Must be able to sit for moderate periods of time.
Must be able to maintain mobility for extended periods. Major portions of the workday require this activity.
Occasional periods of climbing/reaching.
Occasional bending/stooping or kneeling to demonstrate products.
Must be able to use hands and fingers to demonstrate products.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office setting.
This position frequently works outside the office at tradeshows, and distributor locations. This position is expected to travel approximately two weeks per month.
Limited exposure to moving mechanical parts
