Director, Health Center Governance Training Job Opening in Bethesda, Maryland - In this role, the Director, Health Center Governance Training will elevate health center performance through the delivery of training and technical assistance that improves governance by promoting effective working relationships between executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.
Essential Functions:
Develop and implement a strategic approach to governance training and technical assistance that reflects the changing health care environment and changing needs of the community and patient populations.
Measurably improve the governance functioning of community health centers by accomplishing the following:
Identify health center training and technical assistance needs in the areas of community partnership, needs assessment, organizational strategic planning, risk management, succession planning, legal and fiduciary compliance and change management;
Develop training curricula and tools to meet those needs;
Direct and manage the provision of TTA activities related to those areas.
Evaluate activities both for successful process and outcomes and use this feedback to improve programs.
Define and track measures that gauge governance performance trends: such as Board procedures; Board tenure and succession planning; Board rostering and participation; financial literacy; executive evaluation; and patient satisfaction.
Assure all TTA programs integrate community governance concepts as appropriate by actively working across the Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) department, other NACHC departments, Primary Care Associations and Health Center Controlled Networks, and other TTA partners.
Promote and encourage leadership development and fundamental education efforts among health center Boards.
Serve as a primary planner for NACHC conference sessions.
Develop product concepts and stay abreast of current issues and trends in adult learning relative to the healthcare operating environment, community partnerships and governance.
Manage the deliverable milestones and budget assigned to these activities, including any federal funds and its associated requirements.
Actively engage and influence overall improvement as a member of the Training and Technical Assistance team; work closely with other Directors to ensure integration of community Boards perspective.
Perform other duties as circumstances arise or as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Results oriented.
Demonstrated skill in leading groups in the context of community engagement and community partnership.
Strong understanding and experience with adult learning including curriculum assessment, development, delivery and impact evaluation.
Minimum of five years working in community governance (ideally, at or with community health centers).
Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Experience managing multiple budgets, projects and deadlines.
Works effectively with minimum direction.
Travel required (approximately 15 -25%).
Works effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with significant education/training in health care administration (Master's degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.
