Safety Coordinator Job Opening in Corvallis, Oregon - The mission for this position is to provide guidance and direction for the entire company in the area of Health and Safety.
Responsibilities
Oversee and participate in developing, implementing and evaluating plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and work standards.
Accountable for the consistent application of all safety policies and procedures in order to foster a positive work environment.
Work with HR to implement any new policies and procedures.
Partner with HR Manager and Staff to improve employee relations in regards to safety.
Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections of facilities to audit physical conditions and safe work practices including unsafe equipment.
Comfortable with SOP?s and auditing as needed.
Handle all worker?s compensation, general liability and automobile insurance claims. Partner with our insurance company to timely resolve all claims.
Maintain all data related to work related personal injury/illness.
Maintain records of employee and subcontractor safety violations.
Manage and conduct monthly safety meetings. Attend monthly corporate safety meetings.
Develop training modules and conduct safety training. Including CPR and First Aid practical training.
Develop controls for identified hazards and coordinate the implementation of controls. Evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.
Responsible for record keeping and compliance for all OSHA, Federal, State, Local, legal and company related procedures, as well as implementation as required.
Ammonia based warehouse ? must be comfortable with reviewing practices and being the liaison between Maintenance and the rest of the warehouse on the safety related issues.
Responsible for the fire/ammonia drills with the facility. (Liaison to Fire/Police Departments).
Troubleshoot and problem-solve issues as they arise.
Participate in vendor meetings, etc. as necessary.
Recommend the purchase of safety equipment and supplies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
Well versed federal and state regulations such as OSHA, FDA, DOT, Workers Comp regulations and compliance.
Must demonstrate proficient PC skills. Must demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Must have great attention to detail.
Effective leadership skills.
Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Must have own transportation.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Designation highly desired.
Knowledge of Process Safety Management desired.
Knowledge in Risk Management specifically for refrigeration desired.
Fluent in Spanish highly desired.
Food facility or processing plant experience and worked in a warehouse environment previously is a plus.
