Senior Accountant (Seattle area candidates only) Job Opening in Edmonds, Washington - Title: Senior Accountant

Mid Sized independent retail company is seeking a Senior Accountant for a position located just to the north of Seattle. Seeking a candidate with a good overall understanding of why & the end game. Someone who understands accrual accounting and the relationship of the balance sheet to the income statement. Not someone who is going to take a Quick Book approach to things. Previous retail experience would be nice but not required. This company provides a great work place environment and an excellent work/life balance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
? Senior Account is responsible for financial closing process up through preparation of preliminary financial statements and assist in preparation of reporting package.
? Senior Accountant develops and maintain processes to record and maintain assigned balance sheet accounts.
? Maintain reconciliations and supporting details of assigned balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
? Responsible for all aspects of company Fixed Assets ? o Identify and record all fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
Senior Accountant will track project costs (actual & against budget) and close out/capitalize at completion of project.
Create and maintain system of controls, processes, and procedures to properly account for all fixed assets through end of life.
Reconcile subsidiary level detail to general ledger and resolve any discrepancies
Senior Accountant will calculate depreciation expense for all fixed assets (book & tax) and forecast annual tax depreciation
Review and update detail schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation
Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets
Track company capex expenditures as compared to budget.
? Prepare annual personal property tax returns for all applicable tax jurisdictions (currently King, Kitsap and Snohomish counties)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
? Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
? 2-4 years of comparable private industry experience
? Excellent computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn and become proficient with new applications
? Must have ability to summarize large amounts of data into easily understood and visually appealing formats.
? Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Dynamics highly desired
? Must be detail-oriented
? Excellent organizational skills
? Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively
? Must have ability to perform diverse job duties, adept at digging into details and persistent in bringing about resolution to accounting issues
? Commitment to personal and professional development
? Looking for progressive person not satisfied with the status quo but constantly looking for process improvements
? The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product
