Position Summary: The role of the Peer Coordinator is to provide support to the Peer Recovery Coaches at Casa Esperanza, Inc. Under the direction of the Director of Recovery Support Services and the Director of Behavioral Health the Peer Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to clients in their efforts to access and remain engaged in Substance Use and Mental Health services. The Peer Coordinator will work in collaboration with other programs in making referrals to local treatment providers and help clients to navigate the mental healthcare and drug/alcohol abuse recovery systems, as these are critical to their stability and behavioral health engagement.
Responsibilities:
Participate in weekly clinical meetings to provide updates and assist in the decision making related to treatment planning and implementation.
Provide support to Peer Recovery Coaches to identify bilingual peer support and self-help groups;
Coordinates internal and external services, i.e. legal, medical, and housing, employment, and training, etc.
Completes GPRA?s in a timely manner.
Work with project staff to coordinate outreach to individuals seeking recovery
Work with Peer Recovery Coaches to establish and coordinate a range of alcohol/drug free community based initiatives including, but not limited to volunteering, training, work experience, social enterprise, social support, mutual aid, leisure, skills based and therapeutic activities
Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team meeting and other meetings both internal and external as required or needed.
Develop and Implement Drop-In Center schedule
Collect client data and conduct follow up surveys to ensure long-term client engagement
Forge links with other organizations and community groups and develop partnerships that broaden the range of activities, opportunities and available resources
Implements all safety and security requirements for planned activities
Coordinate participation in Leadership Training
Manage paperwork including client progress notes, filing and copying
Serve as liaison between administration, staff, clients and volunteers
Qualifications:
Minimum five years of direct care services
Ability to understand and manage moral/ethical boundaries with clients/staff.
Minimum three years? experience working with individuals in recovery and individuals struggling with substance use and mental health disorders.
Familiar with social, health and cultural issues specific to the Latino population
Previous experience with peer-based support services
Bilingual Spanish/English required
Certified Peer Recovery Coach Supervisor, preferred.
Flexible work hours including evenings and weekends
Access to vehicle and a valid driver?s license preferred.
Supervision: The Peer Coordinator will supervise the Peer Recovery Coaches and receive supervision from the Project Director.
