The main objective of the General Manager is to achieve the maximum long-range profitability of the hotel and provide the optimum guest services possible, while operating within pre-determined budget limitations. Promotes the philosophy of the management company (Venerts Hotel Management Inc.) of providing the very best service and accommodations possible and ensuring this is evident in all phases of operation.

Essential Functions
Responsible for the over-all management of the hotel to ensure an efficient and profitable operation.
With the guidance of the management staff of Venerts Hotel Management Inc., establish and implement realistic and effective operation and capital budgets; forecasts and compares actual operation results with budgeted projections; facilitates operations profitability through proper anticipation and adjustment of hotel operations.
Assist Venerts Hotel Management Inc. in developing and implementing the annual marketing plan. Be responsible for direct sales efforts.
Performs as a leader to promote a feeling of care and concern for the guests that is evident in all phases of the propertys operation. Inspires and motivates each employee to anticipate each guests level of expectation and to react immediately to any guest request.
Implements Venerts Hotel Management Inc. standards of service and operation.
Ensures uniform standards of operations are evident in all aspects of the hotel operations.
Keep informed and abreast of all local, state, and federal laws and regulations , safety, and health issues.
Attends annual conventions and seminars in order to stay informed on changes and updates.
Maintains the policy manual in an up-to-date fashion and implements new policies.
Assist Venerts Hotel Management Inc. management staff in establishing competitive rates to maximize guest room revenue, food and beverage revenue and other service revenue.
Enforces all policies and procedures to minimize guest and employee accidents and liability; thus, ensuring a safe environment.
Completes consistent inspections of the hotel to ensure cleanliness and security in order to meet the highest standards of service.
Investigates guest comments and resolves all problems, both short-term and long term. Report all these complaints and comments to Venerts Hotel Management Inc.
Participates in civic affairs to become familiar with the community and maximize sales.
Keeps abreast of competition, new developments, and techniques in the hotel industry in order to maximize profitability.
Conducts and/or attends meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among company employees and promote maximum morale, productivity and efficiency.
Prepares reports, as requested or required, to develop a more informative data base for improved management decision making and critical evaluation of work activities.
Performs all duties in a timely and efficient manner, following established policies and procedures.
Reports to Director of Hotel of Operations any problems or unusual matters of significance, coming to his/her attention so prompt, corrective action can be taken when appropriate.
Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage personnel:
Maintain a qualified staff.
Identifies and controls work relationships, areas of accountability and performance of personnel assigned.
Determine standards of performance as a basis to review progress and evaluation of personnel.
Recommend salary adjustments, transfers, promotions and dismissals.
Ensure proper training of personnel.
Promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate to maximize employee morale and productivity.
Develop and encourage individuals for future advancement.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, be in good physical condition, bending,stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50# or more may be required.
Performs other duties that are requested or required.
Willing to work 45-50 hours a week when necessary.
Qualification Standards
2-4 year degree in Hotel Management or equivalent.
1-2 years previous lodging experience with supervisor experience. Experience handling cash, accounting procedures, and general administrative tasks.
Ability to be friendly and cheerful; interact easily with strangers.
Ability to work well in stressful situations, remaining calm and demonstrating good judgment and self-control in emergency and difficult situations.
Ability to delegate, give direction and set priorities.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Ability for strong organizational skills and strong detail orientation.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to resolve conflict.
Grooming must meet property standards.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, be in good physical condition, bending, stooping, twisting and lifting up to 50# or more may be required.
Ability to complete and be certified in CPR and First Aid, Serve-Safe and any other related certifications required.
