Controller Job Opening in San Leandro, California - POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Controller:
Is the chief accounting officer and responsible for establishing and maintaining the accounting policies and procedures for the business activities of the company and its related operating entities throughout California.
Is responsible for building an efficient cloud based accounting systems.
Is responsible for both internal and external reporting such as payroll, sales and use, personal property and income taxes.
Will provide analytical reviews as requested and will be responsible for moving all the operations to a properly developed and maintained cloud based accounting system.
Manages a staff of six.
Relationships
The Controller:
Reports directly to the CEO
Has significant interaction with other corporate officers, accounting and operating personnel in the operating companies.
Coordinates the proper use of the accounting system with the accounting staff.
Provides information required by the companies? outside tax preparers
Provides financial information required by corporate management and the board of directors.
Essential Duties Performed
Provide accounting and reporting for all the corporate functions including Centralized Billing, Insurance and other business functions and fee reviews.
Organize and manage the monthly close process and the preparation of the monthly and quarterly financial statements for all entities. Ensure all accounting functions for entities such as payroll, AR, and AP are properly executed and all business activities are properly reflected in the financial statements. Provide analytical review and plan to actual reporting.
Manages all external reporting requirements and all the tax information required by the outside CPA
Create billing for the companies for monthly fees collected bi weekly
Interface with company managers and office personnel to assist in developing a better understanding of the finance area of their businesses. Work with corporate personnel to expand their focus on supporting and assisting the shops.
Manage short-term cash requirements of the companies.
Assist the CEO in the preparation of the annual budget.
Special projects, reports and analysis, as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENT
Standards and Qualifications
College degree preferred
CPA optional
Manufacturing and service industry preferred.
7+ years relevant accounting management with both operational and corporate experience including at least 3 years successful experience as a controller.
Proven ability to build effective accounting and reporting systems through technology.
Proven ability to build capable, loyal accounting teams.
Unquestionable integrity.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Accounting systems expertise on systems such as QuickBooks, MAS 100, Peachtree or others
Office suite of programs including Word and Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
