SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Prepares all financial reports that are submitted to the proper Federal Agency in conformance with Federal costing policies and agency guidelines. Under the general direction of the Contracts and Grants Manager, independently responsible for all accounting and analytical activities in the areas of contracts and grants. This involves all facets of accounting and financial analysis for extramural funds including the assignment and maintenance of funds in the General Ledger System (Financial System), the analysis and management of daily cash needs, the preparation and analysis of financial status reports and invoices, the monitoring, analysis, and preparation of financial and budgetary transactions, and the completion of all financial close-out requirements.
Performance at this level often deals with new issues, systems, and policies which require innovative ideas and creative thinking, specific knowledge of a wide range of concepts, including generally accepted accounting principles, Federal guidelines, NIH Expanded Authorities Guidelines, PHS Grants Policy Guidelines), various policies of awarding agencies, University policies and procedures, University accounting policies, the General Ledger System, as well as the skill to interpret and apply this knowledge to the identification and resolution of accounting and financial problems.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year College; or 3 to 5 years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the Accounting field.
