Software Engineer - Java/Python Job Opening in Stamford, Connecticut - The Position
Seeking to hire a full-time software developer to assist with the firm?s changing business. Candidate will be required to work across front and middle office functions assisting sales, trading, accounting, compliance and operations stakeholders leveraging a wide variety of open source technologies.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but not limited to design, code, implementation, testing, reporting, deployment, and debug operations. Chosen candidate will work on different areas of business using different technologies. Should be willing to move on to different business areas every few months.
Ability to quickly learn and work on new open source technologies
Assist the team with code-refactoring and rebuilding applications in Python ecosystem
Maintain and improve existing programs.
Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special requests.
Requirements
At least 5 years of development experience in financial services
Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems is required
Proficiency in Java and J2EE stack or C# including multi-threaded applications but willing to move to Python
Development experience with MS SqlServer
Experience working with web servers like Tomcat/NGINX and writing RESTful services
Experience in ORM technologies like Hibernate/JPA and SQLAlchemy
Experience in development of SOA services using JAX-WS, JAX-RS, Django and SOAP/JMS
Knowledge of web frameworks like Django, Flask or Spring-Boot.
Knowledge of ETL technologies like Informatica, JasperETL
Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and/or JasperReports is a plus
Familiarity with FIX protocol is helpful
Experience in web technologies like jQuery, JavaScript, AngularJS, jqWidgets,
Experience with code management tools like GIT, Maven and Jenkins
Prior experience of messaging systems like RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ or TIBCO
Knowledge of commodity trading, derivatives, futures and options is a plus
Experience with schedulers (Ctrl-M, JobSchedular) and Perl and PhP is a plus
Experience with big data technology and rule based systems is a plus
Education
B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems
