Summary of Job Purpose:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in ensuring compliance with all FreshPoint and Sysco policies and procedures as directed by the corporate office. The position is directly responsible for financial reporting, reconciliations, and administrative functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate financial reporting
Prepare and assist with monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
Prepare weekly and monthly internal reports
Ensure compliance with GAAP and FAMM
Analyze overall operating expenses to identify opportunities
Calculation of customer rebate programs
Complete contract compliance audits
Manage all aspect of Fixed Asset reporting in GEAC
Perform annual internal self-assement audits
Complete sales tax returns and other local, state, and federal filings as necessary
Prepare monthly intercompany billings
Assist HR with payroll processing and vacation calculations as needed.
Complete business license
Maintain certificates of insurance and hold harmless agreements with appropriate vendors
Perform functions related to being the mail custodian: open, sort, and distribute mail as needed
Assist in answering the phones as needed
Other duties and adhoc reporting as assigned by the management team
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Four-Year Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
N/A
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
2 ? 4 years managerial accounting experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Food or manufacturing industry accounting experience a plus
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires a high-level knowledge of PC's, software including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong command of grammar, spelling, and style.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and shift priorities as necessary.
Detail orientation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily Monday thru Friday; some Saturdays or Sundays as needed
Office and Warehouse Environment
