Medelis, Inc. is a leading provider of clinical research study development and management services. We are a mid-market Clinical Research Organization company focusing on designing and managing FDA approved trials for Phase I, II and III clinical trials.
We are looking for a person with very strong accounting knowledge and experience who can also span network/DBA issues, programming and implementation of Microsoft Dynamics SL. This person will work with all functions within the organization.
This is a full-time, salaried position, with a full benefit package, located in the Nashville, TN area with infrequent travel.
Job brief
We are looking for an experienced Senior accountant to oversee general and cost accounting operations by controlling, verifying and analyzing our financial transactions.
Senior accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants and junior accountants.
Senior accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Provide MSD SL technical support and advice
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Manage accounting assistants and clerical staff
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
Assist with tax audits and tax returns
Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Support month-end and year-end close process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Install and implement ERP software applications
Consult with IT departments on proper server configuration, backup and security to support Dynamics software
Provide technical support regarding ERP
Provide technical training regarding ERP
Perform SQL Server backups, run SQL profiler traces, write SQL queries
Perform reporting customizations using Crystal Reports and SSRS

A bachelor?s degree in accounting. An MBA or equivalent experience is an advantage
Current domain knowledge on Microsoft technical platform
Experience in data manipulation and report writing
Experience with software installation on Windows platforms
