Position Summary: The Tax Accountant position is responsible for working with the Tax Advisory, Kemp clients and staff related to collection of tax-related information, communication with clients on tax-related issues, client tax planning and preparation, and advising clients and Financial Advisors on the tax impact of various strategies and legislation.
Responsibilities:
Prepare tax returns and reports, maintain records, analyze and research complex tax issues.
Perform client tax planning as requested by client and KHFG staff.
Gather and review client tax information including income source information.
Respond to all client communications related to tax questions, issues, etc.
Devise client tax strategies as needed.
Advise Financial Advisors and clients regarding the tax impact of various financial strategies.
Advise Financial Advisors and clients on the impact of new tax legislation.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Analyze tax regulations and recommend strategies that minimize tax burden.
Identify client tax savings opportunities.
Research and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax filings.
Manage electronic tax client database.
Perform clerical duties such as copy, print and scan documents.
Provide support during audits.
Assist Financial Advisors as requested.
Assist staff with client tax related questions, as necessary.
Continue to develop knowledge of tax laws, financial products, industry changes and retirement plans.
Create and update processes and procedures.
Maintain client files and database information.
Attend client appreciation functions.
Special tasks and projects as assigned.
Profile:
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, Tax Manager and KHFG Staff
Detail oriented, self-motivated and highly organized
Adaptability to perform in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
Eager for active learning opportunities
Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel
Prior experience with Drake Software is helpful
Education & Experience:
CPA strongly preferred
Bachelor?s degree in accounting preferred, or a tax concentration within an accounting program
3+ years of tax accounting experience
