POSITION SUMMARY: The primary job responsibility of an accounting assistant is daily reporting of cash sales and account receivables for the branch, handling of petty cash, customer service, maintaining the credit on charge accounts by calling past due customers, processing past due credit letters, process credit applications, setting up approved customers in the system and maintain accounts receivable write-offs for year end. Also assist the branch manager when necessary with daily, monthly and year end processes to insure efficiency and effectiveness for all financial reporting procedures. This position is also responsible to answer the phones, greet and direct customers to the proper area, and daily processing of the U.S. mail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
Daily reporting of branch cash sales and accounts receivable to the corporate location in Tulsa.
Receive payments on charge accounts from customers on a daily basis and assist customers with account inquiries.
Receive COD payments, code correctly and give to sales for invoicing.
Handle petty cash for the branch location.
Maintain credit department by calling on past due customers, processing credit letters, process credit applications and setting up approved customers in the system.
Entry of accounts payable for all branch invoicing.
Assist the Corporate Controller in research for financial reporting.
Answering the phone in a professional manner and correctly directing customers to their destinations.
Processing the incoming US mail as well as store mail by opening, stamping and delivering all mail to the correct parties on a daily basis.
Issue, input, and resolve discrepancies with vendors through the use of Purchase Orders to maintain an accurate inventory.

Education
A high school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience is required. An bachelor?s degree in accounting or related field is highly desirable.
Experience Needed:
Preferably a degree, at least three years, or 5 years without a degree of accounting and bookkeeping experience, including experience in a manufacturing operation.
Skills Needed:
· Must be outgoing with a friendly attitude.
· Be a team player and be willing to contribute as part of a team.
· Must have the ability to identify and analyze problems, seek more efficient methods and find alternative solutions to solve the problem.
· Ability to work independently with limited supervision and take the initiative to complete assignments.
· Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both oral and written.
· Need proficiency in the use of personal computers for a variety of business applications, including spreadsheet, database, accounting, manufacturing software and ten key calculators.
WORKING
There is frequent contact with co-workers, supervisors and plant personnel. Must be flexible, follow directions and have the ability to communicate plans or problems to the proper authority.
