Accounting/Payroll Clerk Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - The accounting/payroll clerk is responsible for performing accounting and some payroll functions, following accounting procedures and assisting the General Manager with maintaining proper controls in accordance with all corporate policies.
Essential Duties:
Responds promptly and follows through on guest requests and complaints in a timely, effective and friendly manner.( i.e. handles account queries quickly and accurately).
Knows and applies all property management system accounting functions and reports.
Know and applies all accounting principles and procedures as applied to hotel accounting, brand requirements and company standards manual.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages accounts receivables and collection efforts within company standards.
Maintains accurate and timely daily payroll and department labor reporting system and overtime reporting systems for cost control.
Processes bi-weekly payroll.
Responsible for new hire paperwork and onboarding.
Responsible for posting and tracking of open hourly positions.
Responsible for ordering and tracking of safety shoe program.
Inventories and orders office supplies, as applicable.
Processes credit applications within company standards.
Maintains effective relations with other departments in hotel and corporate office to resolve interdepartmental problems to promote excellent guest service, and to promote programs.
Works collaboratively in team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion and negotiation skills required in working with guests and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activity to supervisor.
Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
Provides leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
