Staff Accountant will report to Accounting Manager and play an integral role in the monthly financial close process. Ideal candidate will have solid understanding of accounting basics, such as concepts of accruals, prepaids and basis of financial statements for monthly reporting. Applicant must be a team player with positive attitude, with focus on timeliness and accuracy. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as well as intermediate level of Excel skills (pivot-tables, v-lookups, what-ifs, index etc.)
Responsibilities:
· Specific month end closing responsibilities include certain asset accounts, A/R and A/P accounts, and certain current liabilities
· Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts
· Generate monthly journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
· Perform full-scope Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities, issuing credit memos for A/R, vouchering invoices for payment, preparing and performing weekly check runs, etc. Review and code invoices to appropriate accounts
· Reconcile vendor and customer statements and resolve discrepancies
· Review cash receipts for accuracy, record activity
· Prepare weekly sales reports to be presented to management
· Maintain sales rebate programs and calculate disbursements
· Aid in implementation and adherence to internal controls and procedures
· Provide audit support through generation of accurate schedules and documents
· Compile information for external reporting, such as: 1099 reporting, property taxes, and Census reports
· Utilize QuickBooks to input, retrieve, or display accounting information
· Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
· Ad hoc projects including analysis and interpretation of data, policy and procedure creation and modification, variance and trend analysis, and general department innovation
Requirements:
· BS in Accounting, Business or Finance
· 1-3 years hands-on accounting experience
· Solid understanding of GAAP concepts
· Experience with QuickBooks is a plus
