Reports to: Senior Quality Assurance Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating
and directing quality control programs designed to ensure continuous production
of products consistent with established standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and coordinate the internal audit activities of the manufacturing process which monitors quality and food safety systems. Serve as a technical resource and team member in planning quality systems and procedures to assure the quality characteristics for new and existing product lines. Train others to use and support implementation of the developed quality systems and standards, auditing, quality tools and other topics as appropriate. Function as an auditor on internal and supplier audit activities. Support efforts by developing and maintaining production and lab testing procedures, including kosher and allergen programs. Communicate on a professional level internally and with customers, providing service and solutions to their needs. Responsible for procedures relating to scale-up of development product: manufacturing guidelines, development of ingredient statements, change management procedures, etc. Knowledge of USFDA label requirements is necessary. Perform job duties adhering to quality specifications, food safety, legality, and company policies
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure best practices in methods, standards and processes are utilized throughout the plant.
Develop, implement and oversee GMP, HACCP, SSOP and Bio-Terrorism requirements.
Work closely with operations management to continuously improve product reliability and functionality and to minimize costs.
Perform internal inspections and use excellent oral and written communication skills.
Lead and direct the work of others-QC Supervisor and technicians
Plans, promotes, documents and organizes training
Must have ability to review product specifications and correct / update where needed, update processing instructions, review new products for completeness and appropriateness of specifications.
Hands on knowledge of the testing equipment
Conduct in-process QC test and internal audits for compliance
Maintain GMP training record, investigate and document quality related issue in timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS
Five years of quality assurance/control experience, strong scientific & analytical skills.
Must have experience with all aspects of H.A.C.C.P., USDA, GMP?s and Bio-Terrorist programs.
Highly motivated person who is able to multi-task and handle a high volume of work with accuracy in a fast changing environment.
Require a general knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment
Good verbal and writing, detail-oriented and a team player.
Must have a hands-on leadership style
Must be detail orientated with keeping
Must possess computer skills (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
Bilingual preferred (English-Spanish)
Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor?s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, and/or related field. A minimum of 10+ years experience in FDA regulated food processing environment with a good working knowledge of GMP?s, USDA and HACCP, Organic, Kosher and Halal programs.
