Sr. Cost Accountant Job Opening in Bridgewater, New jersey - Position Overview The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the accounting, reporting, reconciliation and overall financial control of inventory and cost of goods sold while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Cost Accounting Standards. This position will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure inventory is properly valued, inventory transactions are properly recorded, and adequate inventory controls are in place
Manage the accounting for purchased finished goods, raw , packaging, import / inbound / outbound freight (including customs duties and other import costs)
Track and report inventory cost variances (PPV / OH / etc.), and calculate, book, and report adequate inventory variance capitalization adjustments
Responsible for developing standard costs and annual revaluation of inventory
Perform in depth analysis of direct manufacturing and overhead cost
Prepare journal entries
Responsible for the reconciliation of various inventory-related balance sheet accounts
Responsible for recording and reconciling the results of cycle counts and the preparation of reconciliations of inventories held at internally and CMO locations
Manages the development of inventory reserves for slow moving and obsolete products
Ad-hoc inventory reporting and analysis as assigned
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
3-6 years of direct cost accounting experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or distribution setting required
Experience with month-end closes and general ledgers
Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment
Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm and effective under pressure
Strong attention to detail and ability to work through various issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Accurate and timely reporting
Analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
