Software Engineer Job Opening in Falls Church, Virginia - Perceptronics Solutions is seeking very strong candidates for the position of Software Engineer on our research and development team. In this role, you will work with a small team of highly dedicated engineers and scientists to apply cutting-edge algorithms to real world problems and data sets and to deploy them in production quality software tools. We are seeking candidates who are particularly interested in a position that involves a mix of both software development and algorithmic research.
Responsibilities include:
Explore and evaluate both novel and pre-existing algorithmic capabilities on real world data sets.
Rapidly prototype user interface test-beds to support algorithmic development.
Integrate mature algorithmic capabilities into existing production systems.
Implement, test, and maintain customer-facing applications.
Participate in Agile planning and development of new features and system maintenance.
Minimum qualifications:
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science.
Exceptional software development skills (particularly Java).
Strong academic training in Computer Science fundamentals (particularly algorithms, data structures, and machine learning).
Stellar communication skills (both technical details and high level conceptual ideas).
Enjoys collaborating with small and dedicated development teams.
Preferred qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of Java 7 and 8; experience with Python or C is a bonus.
Knowledge of modern development practices (Agile, object-oriented programming, test-driven development, microservices).
Experience with web application development, preferably in GWT (or Vaadin).
Experience with REST, Java servlet applications, and database technologies (particularly MySQL).
Experience with SVN or another modern VCS (Git, Mercurial).
Experience with Ant / Ivy or Maven.
Experience with Jenkins or other continuous integration tools.
