As part of our news team, you will contribute original content on a daily basis and report on the latest advances in business and technology in healthcare, including: senior executives, operations, finance, radiology, cardiology, health IT and more. The ideal candidates will be detail-oriented individuals' eager to take ownership of their role and excel at planning and executing daily writing assignments that include news and web features.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The News Writer is responsible for finding, developing, writing, editing and revising stories and content for newsletters and websites. Please visit our portfolio of web sites including: , , , and www,.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Provide several news stories each day and short web features for healthcare, business and technology websites
Develop, write, edit and revise article posts and content
Edit copy and input daily articles in online content management system, including proper tagging for categorization
Contact and interview (via telephone and in-person) healthcare industry members, physicians, clinicians, vendors and others to gather material
Read, interpret and write up applicable studies in journals and interview study authors- Deliver high-quality work daily on deadline and ensure factual accuracy of content
Gather necessary artwork, photos and charts for stories
Communicate regularly and collaborate effectively with editorial team members
Attend and report on seminars, conferences and tradeshows
Interview presenters and vendors at tradeshows using video and audio for online presentation; attend networking events
Develop relationships with industry leaders and organizations to generate story ideas
Listen to and report on online/web events
Other duties as assigned by Managing Editor
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to multi-task while being accurate, efficient, attentive to detail, grammar and style while under pressure and strict deadlines
Develop story ideas by monitoring pulse of the industry, speaking with experts and monitoring competing websites
Good time management and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Word and content management systems

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related field or equivalent experience
3+ years writing experience
This position is located at our offices at 73 W. Monroe Street.
