The Inside Sales Manager oversees, supports and leads our inside sales representative team, while also being accountable for aggressively growing sales in a territory. This is a hybrid role that is best suited for an accomplished inside sales professional that is also an accomplished inside sales manager that can effectively manage, lead, develop and motivate a small, but growing, inside sales team. The ideal person for this role will be entrepreneurial, opportunistic, intelligent and aggressive in pursuit of growing sales. They will also have proven success in being able to engender these same qualities within their team.
Reporting to the COO, the Inside Sales Manager is a crucial position in the company's continued growth. The Inside Sales Manager will monitor sales metrics and manage the entire sales administration process. They will collaborate with various professionals, so it is essential that they have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable working and leading in a team environment. They should also be able to lead and motivate the inside sales team to achieve defined sales goals. Ultimately, the Inside Sales Manager will build a high performance sales team to ensure customer satisfaction and the attainment of sales goals.
Essential Functions:
Manage and motivate a team of inside sales representatives that contact prospects and customers through, but not limited to, phone calls, email and trade shows to grow sales for the company.
Conduct selling efforts within their assigned territory.
Facilitate new processes, tools, communications, training and methodologies to ensure sales program success throughout the company. Serve with other departmental management to facilitate relationships among members of these various departments and locations in order to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.
Collaborate with marketing, production and with internal systems to facilitate new sales programs, messages, campaigns and offerings to aggressively grow sales.
Oversee sales resource planning, sales reporting, sales territories, sales incentives and communications for the sales team.
In collaboration with the COO, provide input to the development of the annual sales plan.
Participate in customer interactions to ensure cross-training, customer satisfaction and management involvement regularly.
Build an open-communication environment for the sales team
Ensure reporting and communications is frequent and bi-directional.
Monitor productivity of the sales team, motivate team and lead by example to reach daily dial goals
Provide coaching for the sales team and training to new team members
Conduct sales interviews, sales training and hire/fire staff
Ensure that the sales pipeline remains full with qualified leads and prospects
Suggest and implement improvements in the sales administration process
Coordinate department projects to meet deadlines
Report on sales metrics and suggest improvements
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts
Use customer feedback to generate ideas about new features or products
Research and discover methods to increase customer engagement
Ensure sales, finance, marketing and legal policies and procedures are met
Provide input to COO in the development of the annual business and marketing plan, including sales forecasts, sales expense forecasts, targeted trade shows, etc.
Attend all trade shows and lead sales efforts at trade shows.
Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of proven and successful experience as an inside sales manager in a B2B environment
Minimum of 8 years of proven and successful experience as an inside sales representative in a B2B environment
Hands on experience with CRM software (prefer Zoho CRM) and MS Excel
In-depth knowledge of the sales administration process
Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Numerical abilities and problem-solving attitude
BS degree in Sales, Business Administration or relevant field
Ability to travel - Up to 15%
Preferred
Experience with selling to academic professionals at universities and colleges
Prior medical or veterinary product sales experience
