Staff Accountant Job Opening in Bethesda, Maryland - CareMetx is seeking ambitious, motivated individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills who would like the opportunity to help people navigate the difficult healthcare landscape using their healthcare administration or information technology skills. When patient's are prescribed high cost, specialty medications , organizations like CareMetx are hired by pharmaceutical companies to provide "hub services." This niche industry has fast become an integral player in getting specialty products and devices to the patients who need them by managing the reimbursement for those products, identifying alternative funding when insurer's don't pay and providing clinical services when necessary. The hub maintains communication with physicians, specialty pharmacies, payers and others to assure patients get their medications in a timely fashion and continue to track progress while they are taking the medication.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director, Finance and Operations, the Staff Accountant is responsible for developing the budgets and forecasts, monthly financial statements, monthly analysis of key metrics and proactive P&L expense and variance reviews, client invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow and identifying trends and opportunities in the business. The Staff Accountant will work cross-functionally to help business partners identify opportunities for greater profitability.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer financial functions including financial reporting, cash management, budgeting and forecasting.
Maintain the system of internal accounting controls, the general ledger and compliance policies.
Enter transactions and journal entries into the financial reporting system.
Analyze and prepare all financial statements, corporate reporting, and internal management reports.
Month-end close including journal entry preparation.
Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.
Coordinate and prepare the annual budget and monthly operating forecasts.
Participate in external financial audits by independent accounting firms.
Create fee budgets and profitability projections for client proposals and existing clients.
Process vendor invoices for cost allocation and payment.
Process payroll using ADP Workforce Now system.
Prepare data for client fee invoice generation.
Prepare and distribute year-end tax related forms and filings to include 1099?s and K-1?s prepared by tax accountants.
Responsible for accounts receivable management and collection activities.
Review client and vendor agreements.
Analyze and forecast salaries, bonuses, commissions, and benefit expenses.
Create and prepare executive and Board level PowerPoint presentations.
Provide training to finance and other department staff as necessary.
Prepare financial reports, operating statements and key metrics used by management.
Develop new and innovative reporting through existing tools and implementation of new reporting technology and improved automation.
Conduct financial review meetings with business managers.
Conduct regular financial reviews with management examining actual results compared to budgets/forecasts and forward looking
Assess future needs of the business and provide feedback to leadership on potential short-term and long-term risks and opportunities.
Prepare various financial analyses, cost containment or revenue enhancement opportunities.
Act as finance strategic partner to corporate departments for financial and operational matters.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a bachelor?s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
ADP Workforce Now experience preferred
MINIUMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
Intermediate knowledge and skill set with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.
Advanced skills in MS Excel and other technology tools.
Strong experience with financial reporting systems, statements and reports.
QuickBooks experience required.
Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll system.
Strong understanding of the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements and creating algorithms within spreadsheets that allow for quick and efficient sensitivity analyses.
A strong understanding of basic financial, statistical and accounting concepts.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Able to work collaboratively with other functional departments and provide key financial and strategic thinking.
Demonstrated experience implementing process and systems improvements.
Proactively identify areas with revenue and profit improvement opportunities.
