Controller Job Opening in Draper, Utah - We are regional Civil Engineering Consulting firm who is currently seeking a financial professional to serve as Controller for a growing business. In this role you will work hand in hand with Executive level leadership while taking ultimate responsibility for all Controller functions. This role requires the ability to work in a fast paced accounting environment with a focus on business growth while maintaining accuracy. As a critical member of our leadership team, you must have the ability to steer the firm through rapid growth into new markets and sectors.
Responsibilities:
· Direct involvement in all Firm related financial decisions
· Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
· Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
· Monitoring and confirming financial condition by conducting audits; supporting external auditors.
· Maximizing return and limiting risk, by accurately managing budgets, overhead, A/R and A/P
· Preparing budgets by working closely with Firm Principals to create schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans to ensure vital cash flow.
· Providing status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data, through standard and ad hoc financial reports; to management.
· Assisting in the Management of a team of multiple staff including accountants and clerical staff.
· Preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting on a monthly basis.
· Conducting timely and accurate periodic closings
· Participating in routine work in progress review meetings, reviewing status and progress of jobs, and compliance with budgets and schedules
· Assisting in preparing and filing taxes
Skills:
· Experience in Engineering firm accounting with knowledge of both governmental and commercial related regulation is highly desired.
· Familiarity with fixed contract accounting and progress billing is essential.
· Proficiency in intercompany transaction and consolidation experience.
· Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations governing the A/E industry is helpful.
· Knowledge of Deltek Vision Accounting Software is preferred but not required
· Proven ability to operate in a role in which you were responsible for directing company-wide financial decisions.
Flexibility to transition from day-to-day tasks such as payroll processing to critical operations such as in-depth financial analysis and decisions
Must truly be a self-starter with an energy and drive focused on business growth.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a related area
Minimum of 6 years of professional, progressive accounting and management experience after graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPA or MBA not required but either would be preferred

Salary: $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 /year
