Executive Director and CEO Job Opening in Alexandria, Virginia - POSITION DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the NOYS staff, programs, development, and execution of its mission. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business and accounting plans.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT * Ensure ongoing rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals. Actively engage and energize NOYS volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders. Develop, maintain, and support a strong board of directors; serve as ex-officio member of each committee, seek and build board involvement in strategic directions. Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate operation components, to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
FUNDRAISING & RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT * Work with the Board of Directors in development of funding and marketing strategies, preparing and submitting proposals, making presentations to funders and developing progress reports * Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations. Deepen and refine all aspects of communications?from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand * Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities and reinforce the mission of the organization. Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results.
BUDGET & FINANCE * Manage budget development, budget tracking, monitoring and reporting. Oversee the annual audit performed by an independent auditor. Develop new income revenues and a broad, diverse funding base. Maintain cost controls and take responsibility for accounts receivable/payable. Handle initiation and development of contracts with consultants and processing requests for payments or reimbursements.
ORGANIZATIONAL * Board Meetings and Activities ? Responsible for planning and coordination of Board meetings, including making logistical arrangements for Board related activities and events, and for maintaining relevant project ?related files. Also, responsible for timely reports to the Board. * Marketing and Materials Development ? Responsible for developing and coordinating with volunteers the development of organizational marketing materials, which include: articles for NOYS newsletters, brochures, web site updates, and other materials as specified by the Board.
Membership ? Responsible for developing a comprehensive membership plan including recruitment, support and coalition-building activities. Must maintain and update database on organizational membership. Also, responsible for coordinating general membership meetings and communications plan enhancing member opportunities for collaboration.
Public Speaking ? Serves, as needed, as spokesperson for NOYS at external events. Attends external meetings related to the work of the organization. Responds to media inquiries.

Salary: $100,000.00 /year
