Bioinformatics Scientist Job Opening in Cary, North carolina - Job Description: We are seeking a talented and highly motivated bioinformatics scientist to join the scientific data analytics team at Omicsoft, a QIAGEN company. This position will be based in Cary, North Carolina with the primary responsibility to develop data analysis plans/pipelines for high-throughput genomics data from multiple disease areas. By collaboratively working with internal researchers and software development team, the successful candidate will integrate his/her knowledge and experience into our efforts to build a strong analytic pipeline to process large scale genomics data-sets and developed innovative strategy to deliver high-throughput data in a user-friendly fashion.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to,
Review the scientific publications, protocols or other documentation to evaluate study aims, design, methods and research findings, and documents this information accordingly
Develop proper analysis pipeline for high-throughput datasets from various platforms and sources
Develop proper benchmark tests to test and compare different analysis strategies
Search, download, QC and analyze genomic datasets from multiple disease areas; properly summarize and interpret the analysis outcomes to clients
Qualifications:
Successful applicants should be detail-oriented and have good communication skills. This includes past work performance and/or assignments requiring active interaction with Researchers, Analysts, IT staff, and end users
PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or biostatistics.
Expert in analyzing next generation sequencing data and/or microarray data
Must have solid statistical training and expert in statistical modeling using R or SAS
Comfortable working in both Linux and windows environment
Desired Skills /Experiences:
Experiences with single cell sequencing data analysis
Familiar with C#, Java, Python or other programming language will be a big plus.
Experiences with high performing computing or cloud computing
Experiences with Bioconductor packages for high-throughput expression analysis such as Limma, DESeq or EdgeR
Understanding key pathways and mechanisms within biological system that may underlie oncology, immunological, metabolic or cardiovascular diseases
Working experience in pharmaceutical or bio-tech industry is a plus
A good record of publication and bioinformatics work
