Healthcare Data Warehouse Specialist Job Opening in Los Angeles, California - JOB SUMMARY:
The Healthcare Data Warehouse Specialist position is primarily responsible for managing an advanced SQL database containing healthcare information. Required skills include advanced UNIX programming, advanced database administration, demonstrated experience in SQL programming, demonstrated experience in shell scripting and demonstrated experience in Microsoft business intelligence (MSBI), SSIS, SSAS and SSRS development:
The Data Warehouse Specialist, under supervision of the Health Information Systems Senior Manager, will coordinate with the Chief Information Officer and other senior administrative staff to operate, connect and streamline advanced database functions. The position requires a candidate with an advanced degree in computer science or its equivalent and at least two years of database management experience including at least six months of that experience in the healthcare field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administer health information systems (including AllScripts Professional Electronic Health Record, Practice Management and QS1) for Health and Mental Health Services at all Los Angeles LGBT Center sites;
Analyze, extract, and format data for reporting quality measures and grant applications;
Build and extend a scalable and modern data warehouse, and analytics environment;
Build and extend a flexible and scalable reports and dashboard framework;
Interface closely with IT, HIS and HMHS teams;
Build custom as well as leverage off-the-shelf data products/tools, as appropriate;
Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, information technology conferences and other meeting as needed;
Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with the LGBT community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBT people.

Advanced UNIX Programming
Connect to databases and servers using UNIX programming languages
Create automated processes
Advanced Database administration
Design, development and deployment of maintenance jobs
Design development and implementation of backup, restore and disaster recovery strategy and procedures to assure availability and continuity
Implement the above to incorporate Microsoft SQL best practices
Demonstrated experience in SQL programming
Write advanced queries to accommodate operational and analytic business needs
Create stored procedures, trigger, cursors, temp table and variable table to get the desired reports
Create custom view, functions and sub-routines to help in future use
Refactor above to meet performance and integrity requirements
Demonstrated experience in Shell scripting
Automate recurring file task operations.
Build monitoring and management routines to address resource intensive queries
Build batch process to extract, move and delete files to assure currency, source traceability and versioning of data
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft business intelligence (MSBI), SSIS, SSAS and SSRS development:
Design and document data warehouse using Erwin data modeler.
Create high level ETL design document showing the flow of data into Data warehouse.
Create low level ETL design document showing attribute level mapping details, jobs, job schedule, data validation and error handling process.
Create ETL framework document and in turn create ETL template package accommodating data validation, error handing and logging.
Maintain various versions of source code using JIRA, BIT BUCKET and SVN repository.
Create and propose future DW enhancements like introducing MDS (master data services) \ (DQS (data quality services) client lookup logic to merge clients over different data sources.
Create highly available custom production reports using SSRS to be accessed by multiple uses in AD groups.
Create and refresh report snapshots
Create various SQL agent jobs.
Create annual clinical reports for grant and auditing purposes.
Create and submit monthly service report to county and work on exceptions.
Create performance and utilization report for various programs under various dimensions
Proficient with Allscripts EMR Allscripts PM and QS1 Systems, including knowledge of basic clinical/pharmacy workflow.
Create custom tasks using VB\ C#. Net to accommodate the requirements.
Create SSAS cubes to help with reporting needs
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statues, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
