About the Medical Assistant Role
Upperline Health is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to assist a podiatric physician in delivering complex health services in the clinic setting. This person will be based in the Mobile area and will be responsible for supporting the physician with a range of clinical and administrative tasks. This will include the work of a Medical Assistant such as placing patients in rooms, developing x-rays, performing prep work for all in-house surgery, stocking exam rooms daily, sterilizing instruments, and daily cleaning of exam rooms. Or depending on needs, it could also be the work of a Medical Receptionist which includes a range of administrative tasks such as greeting patients in the clinic, collecting relevant patient information, scheduling appointment times, and triaging incoming calls. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working in a clinic or hospital setting, and have experience assisting physicians in a similar capacity. The candidate must demonstrate compassion for patient needs, have great attention to detail and thrive in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities will be varied and candidates will be multitalented, flexible problem solvers who are eager to tackle complex problems and tasks. What You?ll Be Doing
Place patients in exam rooms, ensuring that they are ready and comfortable for their appointment with the physician
Provide patient care under the direction of a podiatric physician including taking and developing x-rays and assisting in the exam room as required
Perform daily administrative tasks such as stocking all exam rooms, reviewing, cleaning, and sterilizing exam and x-ray rooms, and disposing of exam room trash
Sterilize instruments daily
Inventory and report out needed medical and office supplies to the Office Manager on a bi-weekly basis
Greet and check-in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical records/database, perform all registration functions and collect copays and balances due as appropriate
Schedule patients via office scheduling policies and confirm appointment times as well as educate patients on the impactful services of Upperline
Answer and screen in-bound calls, take messages, and provide appropriate information to patients as well as handling outgoing phone calls as appropriate (e.g., appointment confirmations, referral calls, pre-certs, etc.)
Experience Requirements
Previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting assisting a physician
Reliable and dedicated co-worker who is able to assist the physician in a diverse set of tasks and responsibilities
An exceptional customer service orientation featuring an empathetic, compassionate and professional demeanor with each interaction
Tenacious problem solver, with demonstrated capacity to embrace complex problems and arrive at effective solutions in a timely manner
Enjoys working in a team based environment with active collaboration
Must be an effective communicator, able to explain Upperline?s services in an informational, influential, concise, uplifting, and personable manner with outstanding etiquette
Strong written communication skills with success in providing notes, updates, and written communications via computer systems
Working knowledge of the healthcare industry is strongly preferred
Thrives in a fast-paced environment that relies on the ability to multi-task and balance multiple, competing priorities, yet is still able to balance that energy and drive with sensitivity and compassion
Must have a high school diploma; Bachelor degree preferred
