About the Medical Receptionist Role
Upperline Health is seeking a Receptionist support a team of clinicians in delivering complex health services in the clinic and home setting. This person will be based in a clinic in Birmingham and will be responsible for providing all telephonic and back-office support required by the team of clinicians. This will include a range of administrative tasks such as greeting patients in the clinic, collecting relevant patient information, scheduling appointment times, and triaging incoming calls. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working in a clinic or hospital setting, and have experience coordinating the needs of chronically ill patients. The candidate must demonstrate compassion for patient needs, have great attention to detail and thrive in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities will be varied and candidates will be multi-talented, flexible problem solvers who are eager to tackle complex problems and tasks. What You?ll Be Doing
Greet and check-in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical records/database, perform all registration functions and collect copays and balances due as appropriate
Schedule patients via office scheduling policies and confirm appointment times as well as educate patients on the impactful services of Upperline
Answer and screen in-bound calls, take messages, and provide appropriate information to patients as well as handling outgoing phone calls as appropriate (e.g., appointment confirmations, referral calls, pre-certs, etc.)
Assist patients with ambulatory difficulties, or other needs, as appropriate
File charts and coordinates lab work as requested
Assist with charge entry, and /or coding issues, and other related work if requested
Accurately and concisely document patient feedback and special needs during each call in our computer system enabling our clinicians to provide excellent care during each appointment
May be requested to support and perform other duties based on business demand
Experience Requirements
Previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting handling patient interactions
An exceptional customer service orientation featuring an empathetic, compassionate and professional demeanor with each interaction
Tenacious problem solver, with demonstrated capacity to embrace complex problems and arrive at effective solutions in a timely manner
Enjoys working in a team based environment with active collaboration
Must be an effective communicator, able to explain Upperline?s services in an informational, influential, concise, uplifting, and personable manner with outstanding etiquette
Strong written communication skills with success in providing notes, updates, and written communications via computer systems
Working knowledge of the healthcare industry is strongly preferred
Excellent data-entry skills and proven ability to navigate multiple computer screens while conducting an empathetic, patient-focused telephone call
Thrives in a fast-paced environment that relies on the ability to multi-task and balance multiple, competing priorities, yet is still able to balance that energy and drive with sensitivity and compassion
Must have a high school diploma; Bachelor degree preferred
