Public Programming Assistant Job Opening in Hartford, Connecticut - The Public Programming Assistant is responsible for assisting with all aspects of space rental, event planning and room reservation requests. This includes the responsibility for scheduling, reporting, accounting, logistics and assisting with technology for all use by internal and external customers. This position ensures the highest level of service is provided by staff to all Hartford Public Library (HPL) customers. Interested candidates must complete an online application at: /jobopenings
Event and Production Support: -? Serve as event support technician, responsibilities to include event supervision and customer service, audio/visual operation, troubleshooting and support for programs and services throughout the Library system.? Flexible schedule required, weekends and evenings.? Supports the public programming team in planning and participates in events and programs in-line with HPL?s mission and strategic goals.? Ensures all equipment, materials and supplies are ordered to meet required inventories.
Library Schedule/ Calendar and Reporting: -? Responsible for the scheduling of programs and meeting rooms for HPL programs and outside groups.? Responsible for maintaining the library?s online calendar.? Schedules site visits by prospective clients; schedules appropriate staff support for library and corporate events.? Manages internal communications necessary for execution of events such as work orders, activity reports, and statistical reports.? Prepares statistical reports as requested monthly and annually.
Public Programming Support and Customer Service: ? Provides welcoming customer service to all customers.? Collaborates with and supports various library departments in planning and participation in events and programs in-line with the library?s mission and strategic goals. ? Positively reflects Hartford Public Library?s mission, vision, and values to staff and the public.? Keeps informed of current trends, improved programs and processes to better meet the needs of the community.? Ensures safe conditions for staff, public, and building operation. Takes appropriate action in building emergencies.? Participates in community activities and maintains contacts with local officials, organizations and library customers in order to interpret the services and objectives of the library.

Position Requirements: A minimum of one year in an Administrative Assistant or Coordinator function is required.A minimum of one year of customer service experience is required. Previous experience in event planning and logistics is preferred. Previous library experience is desirable.

Minimum starting salary is $16.41 per hour.
