Cost Accountant Job Opening in Raleigh, North carolina - General Summary
The cost accountant will work closely with the Corporate Controller in supporting the operating units of the company in identifying and implementing improvements in performance. This will require the Cost Accountant to spend time with our operations management in the field to better understand operational processes and systems. Support will include daily, weekly and monthly operating metrics, analysis of operating costs and variances to operating plan, inventory management and planning, development of procedures designed to optimize operating efficiencies and control costs, evaluation of capital investments and analysis of opportunities for manufacturing cost and process improvement.
Additional hours may also be required to complete specific projects that are deadline driven. The incumbent will practice absolute confidentiality. Good judgment is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned and directed by Senior Financial Managers, Executive Group and the Pfohl Family.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, financial statement, technical journals, and legal documents
Demonstrated use of business software including ERP systems and Microsoft Office. A strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a requirement
In-depth understanding of relational databases with a demonstrated ability to design queries and/or reports using ODBC, Crystal Reports, etc
Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
Ability to apply concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to respond to common inquiries from, and effectively present information to, management, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Strong leadership, communication and demonstrated business analysis skills are critical
Attention to detail and ability to influence others will be needed
Education And/or Experience
B.S., Accounting, Finance or related field
CPA or CMA preferred
3-6 years experience in finance, accounting or related field
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Active North Carolina Certified Public Accountant License (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant Certificate (CMA) preferred
NC Driver's License
